Performance Assessment
Subject: Finding the area of geometric shapes.
Diagnostic: Create a KWL chart with the class, asking students what they know about shapes, perimeter and area.
Formative: Have students keep a math journal to write down notes from the lesson and work out practice problems. Ask the students to show all their work and pick up the journals periodically for a pass or fail grade.
Summative: Have the students, in pair or individually, breakdown a building plan into basic shapes to find the area.
